Tip #3 - Be grateful

Have a gratitude journal – a journal where you write things you are grateful for daily! It improves your health, wellbeing and gives you an opportunity to do some positive thinking. It’s great for your body and your mind!

Ways to cultivate gratitude.

Gratitude is a way to appreciate what you have instead of thinking about the past, fearing the future or always thinking about something you don’t yet have. It helps you refocus your attention on what you have instead of what you lack. Your practice of being grateful will grow stronger the more often you do it. Here are some ways you can practice being grateful:

  1. Write a gratitude journal.

  2. Do a positive self-reflection – ask yourself what went well today?

  3. Thank someone in person – someone who has done something nice for you today.

  4. Thank someone mentally – if you have no way to thank them in person.

  5. Write a thank you note for someone – write it for even the little things and see how good you’ll feel.

  6. Write a thank you note to yourself – yes, to you! Is there something good you did for yourself today? Did you exercise? Have you had a healthy breakfast? Thank yourself for it! You’re are taking care of yourself and that something to be grateful for.

  7. Focus on something beautiful – like the warmth of the sun or a pleasant sound and think how grateful you are to be in the present moment.

You can make yourself happier and nurture your relationships with others by being grateful daily.
